{Daisy Patch}

Pregnant with Miss Daisy and teaching a class of 31 was both exhausting and exhilarating!

My beautiful class {yes, they were beautiful & I only got them for 1 semester!} loved to talk about how she was growing and changing in my tummy {we had a line on the board which grew and grew!}. Discussions flowed... What would happen when she came along? What would we name her? Could we name her Daisy in real life? What would she eat?
...When we got onto how was she going to get out, we diverted the conversation elsewhere with a quick, "Talk to Mum & Dad about that one!"

Vintage Fabric Stash

Last week I hit our local Salvo's store and bought some fabulous fabric!
Sifting through the second-hand linen section turned up some delightful fabric pillowcases, sheets and quilt covers.

All perfect for re-purposing into something new and useful, without spending a lot of money or using a new product! What a great way to source new fabrics and recycle old items - giving them new life!

They looked so nice swishing around in the washing machine.

Anzac Biscuits

One of my favourite recipes to make is Anzac Biscuits - they're good any time of year and are super easy to make (and you don't need eggs!)

I wrote out a lot of recipes from my Mum's recipe books when I left home and this was one of them! I have made them many times since, including this weekend for a family gathering! Very enjoyable!

Easter Chicks

I have installed a new comments interface and am super keen to see how it works.
That means I want you to leave me a comment! :)

Tomorrow is Mother's Group day - love seeing my girls and their bubs! I've offered to do some craft with our babies to celebrate their first Easter.

I found this delightful little (like my play on words!) Easter Chick from A Little Delightful.

Tomorrow I will add some pics of our gorgeous babies doing their own Easter Chicks!

For now it's time for bed!

Looking forward to interacting with you better with our new comment system!

Finally, I have made it back to the land of blog!

We've had so many full days with no time for computer let alone blogging! But it's been lovely catching up with family and friends - staying VERY busy these holidays!

Here is little Miss Daisy with her Easter Chick! Unfortunately doing craft with 9 month olds meant I didn't get any action/in the process shots!! But the finished product was super cute!

Happy Easter everyone!

Shortbread can be for Easter too!

When there are no sweets about... the oven goes on and the baking goods come out!

This time it was something super simple, (yes, even easier than my One Bowl Chocolate Slice!) I had some new stainless steel cookie cutters I wanted to try out so I thought I'd just do my trusty shortbread recipe!

Perseverance of a Spider

There is a spider who lives in our front garden. Not even our garden actually, he attaches his web to the front corner of our house each evening.

Some days his web stays in tact, others it has a few holes which need patching (do spiders do patchwork?!) and often times it's gone completely and he has to start from scratch.

We've taken photos and video of him expertly weaving his web, but usually at dusk or at night by torch light. These two settings don't make for great photos. (above is one of the better ones)

A week or so ago little Daisy-girl and I were playing on the grass while Daddy cut some wood for the fire. {Yep, it's getting cooler!}

I noticed the web there in all its glory and the sun seemed to be in just the right spot to capture its magnificence!

What a patient and perseverant little character the spider is.

I would like to think that I can have the same perseverance in my daily tasks... always joyful to do the same thing over and over again each morning if need be!

Because really - doesn't this web look exquisite and well worth the effort, even if it does have a few holes that need patching every now and then?!

{Repurpose - Cargo Shorts to Peg Bag}

My First Repurpose Project!

Today my brother-in-law messaged me to ask if I'd like to do a little sewing project for him! Never to pass up a challenge I eagerly read on... not surprisingly (he's quite domesticated) he was interested in a peg apron.

I politely explained (via messages) that my fabric stash consists mostly of vintage florals or pinks/purples... would that be fitting for such attire?
His response... not a problem!

{Ruffled Bloomers}

It seems that anything that fits in the categories ruffled, vintage or whimsy is all the go at the moment! And ruffled nappy covers are no exception!

Ashley over at Make It and Love It is sooo handy with a sewing machine and can 'upcycle' anything it would seem! I was so excited when she posted a tutorial on diaper covers! Ashley was able to use a bargain long sleeve dress and create a short sleeve dress with matching diaper cover with ruffles. Clever!

I had tried to make nappy covers before using pretty much the same method (stretching out a bought pair and making a 'rough' pattern!) but I hadn't added extra around the crotch or made the back piece different! So it was great to have Ashley's help to make my first successful pair!

Family Photo Fun

It's no secret that I've fallen in love with taking photographs!

I'm in awe of what my simple point 'n' shoot Canon Ixus 870i can do & love watching my precious subjects as I shoot!

This was a fun day with my niece and nephew, of course Miss Daisy came along for the fun too! I love this one - it looks like Miss M and Miss Daisy are having a little chat!

And of course, nothing like a precious newborn dozing in the sun!

Easter Craft with Daddy & Daisy

It's nice to have little arts and crafts when you have children to remember the different stages they go through. Little hands, feet and tiny fingertips are good reminders of how small they start out and how quickly they grow!

However, craft with little people isn't always all it's cracked up to be! Even the 10 year old children I'd work with at school could be unpredictable! Not always completing their artwork to 'my liking' or specific instructions - but since when is art for another person's liking anyway?!

Our first craft:

Miss Daisy and I made this little Valentine for her Daddy in February...

So it seemed only fitting that with Easter approaching & Mummy doing lots of Easter sewing that I find a little project that Daisy-girl could do too!

Bring on the finger-painting!
Getting one finger neatly on a page was a lot easier (though still difficult) than the handprint Valentine due to a) two parents involved b) an 'older baby' and c) it was one finger! :)

What did we make? Well, I found this delightful thumbprint Easter artwork here at sweet and lovely.

Photos of what Mummy, Daddy and Miss Daisy did to follow!

Jonathon Brown's Pockets

Yesterday I did 7 loads of washing! Phew! Yes, seven, what a day! I wasn't even that far behind on washing... but after separating our clothing into 2 loads, Miss Daisy's into 2 loads, 1 load of towels, 1 load of nappies and 1 load of Miss Daisy's sheets/towels - all of a sudden there were 7!
